Chapter 42 - Fire vs Fire!

Still in Cinabar Island, right now Rize is in great pinch battling against Flaine the leader in charge for the middle category level. Rize still have two opponent to beat while he only have one Pokemon left to use and he is about to make the decision of which Pokemon to use.
Rize: I've decided! It's fire against fire! Charmeleon! Only you can do it!

Flaine: Interesting! So you have quite a decent Fire type! Flareon use Quick Attack!
Rize: Slash attack!
Charmeleon attacked Flareon with Slash while it come near to it trying to attack with Quick Attack.
Flaine: Woa! Your Charmeleon have a very good reflects! It responded very fast to your command! But how about its fire power?
Rize: You wanna see?! Witness it for yourself before your very own eyes my Charmeleon's fire power! Flamethrower!
Charmeleon used its powerful Flamethrower attack but Flareon appear to be unaffected and received all of it and its fire fur in its body becomes bigger and stronger.
Flaine: Hahaha! Thanks to you Flareon's fire power is increased tremendously!
Rize: What?! But how?!
Flaine: Flareon's special ability is Flash Fire! Now Fire Blast!
With increased power, Flareon shot a very powerful Fire Blast to Charmeleon and Charmeleon caught it and block it with its claws but the fire is too strong and Charmeleon is being pushed back by the attack.
Rize: Hang on! You can do it!
Charmeleon was unable to hold the Fire Blast attack anymore and got hit and burned inside the flame of Fire Blast. However, something came up! Charmeleon begin to glow and evolved inside the burning flame of Fire Blast. It flew up high freeing itself from the flames as a Charizard!

" Charizard the Flame Pokemon and the evolved form of Charmeleon. It is a Fire and Flying type. It is said that CHARIZARD's fire burns hotter if it has experienced harsh battles. "

Flaine: This is bad!
Rize: Chance! Quick use Dragon Rage!
Charizard unleashed a new powerful Dragon type move which is Dragon Breath replacing Dragon Rage and knock Flareon out.
Rize: Charizard! Not only you evolved but you've mastered a new move too! You're the best!
Flaine: Wait till you see my best Pokemon! Magmar go!!

Rize: Magmar?

" Magmar the Spitfire Pokemon and the evolved form of Magby. Born in the spout of a volcano, its body is covered by flames that shimmer like the sun. "


Rize: Charizard use Slash attack go!
Flaine: Smokescreen!
Magmar covered itself and hid inside the smoke it created and Charizard stopped its attack as it can't spot Magmar.
Flaine: Mach Punch go!
Magmar came out of the Smoke and attacked instantly with Mach Punch and hit Charizard on the stomach hard.
Rize: Charizard!!
Flaine: Smog!
While Magmar is in close range to Charizard it used Smog attack and Charizard became poisoned. However Charizard managed to counter back with Slash attack. Magmar moved back and hid itself again inside the smoke.
Rize: Charizard flap your wings and try to clear the smokes away!
Charizard cleared the smokes by flapping its wings and Magmar is spotted!
Rize: Allright Slash attack!
Charizard flew up high and charged in a very fast speed and it used a new learned Aerial Ace instead of Slash attack.
Flaine: Damn! Magmar Fire Blast!
Rize: Dragon Breath!
Charizard's Dragon Breath cut through Magmar's Fire Blast and knocked Magmar out.
Referee: Magmar's out! The winner is Rize and his Charizard!
Blaine: Your Charizard's quite something! Here's your Medium Volcano badge as prove of winning this Gym!

After getting through the long heated battle, Rize finally won and earned his Volcano badge and he is now just one step away from entering the Kanto League tournament!

Chapter 41 - Cinnabar Burning Hot Battle!

Referee: The Cinnabar Gym battle of Rize the challenger and Flaine is about to begin! It's a 3 on 3 Pokemon battle and only the challenger is allowed to substitute! Begin!
Flaine: Rapidash let's burn them!

Rize: What's this? The evolved form of Ponyta?

" Rapidash the Fire Horse Pokemon and the evolved form of Ponyta. It is a Fire type. It has astounding acceleration. From a standstill, it can reach top speed within 10 steps. It gallops at nearly 150 mph. With its mane blazing ferociously, it races as if it were an arrow. "

Rize: Kingler let's go!
Flaine: You did well choosing a Pokemon with type advantage! Rapidash use Take Down!
Rize: Kingler it's coming! Use BubbleBeam!
Rapidash charged in to Kingler and Kingler attacked it with BubbleBeam but Ponyta jumped and dodged the BubbleBeam and hit Kingler with Take Down.
Flaine: Good now use Stomp!
Kingler was stomped but Kingler guarded itself using its big pincer.
Rize: Allright! Swords Dance!
Kingler used Swords Dance and raised its offense power.
Flaine: You're finish! Fire Blast!
Rapidash fired one of the most powerful Fire type attack which is Fire Blast.
Rize: Use Crabhammer and cut through it!
Kingler used Crabhammer and cut through the Fire Blast attack.
Flaine: What?! No way! Megahorn!
Rize: Crabhammer!
The two Pokemon clashed each other but Rapidash was knocked out due to the super effective Crabhammer attack.
Flaine: Hmm.. I know what to deal with your Kingler.. Flareon go!

Rize: That Pokemon?!

" Flareon the Flame Pokemon and one of the evolved form of Eevee. It is a Fire type. Flareon has a flame sac in its body. Its body temperature tops 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit before battle. "

Rize: So it's Eevee's evolved form by using a Fire Stone! Kingler go BubbleBeam!
Flaine: Flareon use Agility! Dodge every single one of their attack!
Flareon raised its speed level and dodge every attack of Kingler.
Rize: Damn! They're too fast! Crabhammer!
Kingler was too slow for Flareon and it missed its attack.
Flaine: Get behind Kingler and use Fire Blast!
Flareon get to Kingler's back and used a closed range Fire Blast on Kingler's body and Kingler was all burned out and knocked out of battle.
Rize: Poliwrath your turn!

Flaine: Another water type! It won't do you any good now! Flareon use Quick Attack!
Flareon used an extremely fast Quick Attack and hit Poliwrath.
Rize: Poliwrath use Water Pulse!
Poliwrath used Water Pulse but Flareon dodged it.
Rize: If only we can land a hit! Poliwrath let's stop its movement! Use Hypnosis!
However Flareon keep moving and Poliwrath Hypnosis attack can't work.
Flaine: Hahaha! Too slow! Flareon use Hidden Power!
Flareon used Hidden Power and it looks like it is super effective to Poliwrath and Poliwrath was knocked out.
Rize: What?!
Rize's Poliwrath which is the secret weapon of this gym's battle have been eliminated. Now he only have 1 more Pokemon left to use while his opponent still have 2! Will he be able to turn the table around and win the battle?!

Chapter 40 - Friendly battle! vs Satoshi!

After arriving in Cinabar Island, Rize met with his friend Satoshi and decided to have a quick battle before his gym battle. Now their first battle is about to go underway!
Satoshi: It's a 1 on 1 okay! I'll use this old friend of mine that I just got back! Primeape go!

Satoshi: Primeape! Show me the power of the P1 Grand Prix Champion!

" Primeape the Pig Monkey Pokemon and the evolved form of Mankey. It is a Fighting type. It grows angry if you see its eyes and gets angrier if you run. If you beat it, it gets even madder. "

Rize: Krabby go!
Satoshi: You can have the honor!
Rize: Don't go easy on me.. Krabby use Bubble!
Satoshi: Primeape destroy them all with your fist!
Krabby used Bubble but Primeape destroyed all of the bubbles with its mighty fist.
Satoshi: Fire Punch!
Primeape dashed like a lightning and hit Krabby with Fire Punch and Krabby almost barely couldn't get back on its feet to continue the battle.
Rize: Krabby! Stay strong!
Rize: Come on! I was just testing your Pokemon! Is that all you got after all these months?!
Krabby felt underestimated and with its stubborn and hate losing nature it used all its strength to get back up and it begin to evolve!

Rize: Wow! Kingler!

" Kingler the Pincer Pokemon and the evolved form of Krabby. It is a Water type. The larger pincer has 10,000- horsepower strength. However, it is so heavy, it is difficult to aim. "

Satoshi: Don't be too happy over evolution! Primeape go use Fire Punch!
Kingler used its big pincer and grabbed Primeape's fist of fire and lock it hard making Primeape unable to use its right fist.
Satoshi: Close Combat!
However Primeape used Close Combat and hit Kingler with several hits.
Rize: Kingler use Vicegrip!
Primeape moved back and avoided Kingler's Vicegrip attack.
Rize: Bubble!
Instead of using Bubble, Kingler used a brand new improved attack which is Bubble Beam and Primeape took the hit.
Satoshi: Not bad.. Primeape Bulk up!
Primeape used Bulk up and  raised its offense and defense. Seeing Primeape is powering up, Kingler used another new move unknown to Rize which is Swords Dance and raised its offense power sharply.
Satoshi: Time to finish this! Cross Chop!
Rize: That's our line! Kingler use Crabhammer!
The two Pokemon clashed each other and exchanged blows of their attacks. Both Pokemon took great damage but Kingler was down while Primeape was still able to stand on one foot thus making Rize lost the battle.
Rize: Kingler you did your best! As expected from you and the P1 Grand Prix Champion Pokemon!
Satoshi: Thanks! You're a great Trainer! The way you command your Pokemon and the way your Pokemon responded to your command! I can really feel there is a deep connection between you and your Pokemon! All the best with your gym battle and let's all do our best in the upcoming League Tournament!
After losing the battle with Satoshi, Rize and Satoshi parted ways and Rize is now going to challenge the Cinabar Gym!

Chapter 39 - Fossil Ressurection! Revived Kabuto and Omanyte!

Having a ride on Articuno's back, Rize have finally reached Cinabar Island where he can battle his next gym. Articuno then returned to Seafoam Island and maybe they will meet again someday in the future. Rize first went to the Pokemon Centre to have all his Pokemon taken care for the harsh battle they have been to. While waiting for the Pokemon in the Pokemon Centre, Rize decided to take a walk around the island and check things out and find where is the location of the gym. While walking around the island he saw crowd of people and became curious of what is going on. It looks like the Pokemon Research Institute was having some kind of new discovery.
Crowd: I wonder what Pokemon will be born from these fossils! I hope it's a new species of Pokemon we never know yet! Look Proffesor Blaine is about to begin!

The Scientist who turned out to be Blaine the Gym Leader of Cinabar for the Open Category level turned on the machine and do his stuff on examining the fossils and after a few minutes of waiting the operation was done and unbelieavably the fossils turned to be a living Pokemon which is the prehistoric Pokemon Kabuto and Omanyte.

Rize: Wow! The Pokemon was really resurrected from the fossils! Science sure is amazing!

"Kabuto the Shellfish Pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Kabutops. It is a Rock and Water type. It is thought to have inhabited beaches 300 million years ago. It is protected by a stiff shell. "

" Omanyte the Spiral Pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Omastar. It is a Rock and Water type. A Pokemon that was resurrected from a fossil using modern science. It swam in ancient seas. "

Blaine: Here's your revived Pokemon! Be sure to take good care of them boy!

???: I will! Haha I finally added my collections with rare Pokemon!
Rize: Wow.. He sure was lucky to be able to find the fossils.
Suddenly someone familiar showed up to Rize.
Satoshi: He's been searching for rare Pokemon and fossils all this time. He is really interested in collecting different kinds of Pokemon but on top of that he's still an excellent Trainer.
Rize: Satoshi! It's been so long! It seems like you knew him so well.
Satoshi: Yea we grew up together. In case you didn't know he is Prof.Oak's grandson, Shigeru. He is the Kanto Jr.Champion and last year in the middle category he almost make it in the Final round. I lost to him in the Semi Final but I'm sure I will defeat him this year!
Rize: I see so he's your Rival! I too have a Rival that I have not been able to defeat untill today. He is the Johto Jr.Champion last year but I don't know where is he and what he's doing now.
Shigeru looked at Satoshi and approached him and Rize.
Shigeru: Hey Satoshi! How are you doing? Slacking around like usual?
Satoshi: Hm! You better becareful coz I'm going to defeat you this year!
Shigeru: Sure.. you can give it a try.. anyway I gotta go, I got lot of things to accomplish unlike you! So smell ya later! (Shigeru left them)
Rize: Woa he's quite the jerk one!
Satoshi: He's always so cocky! Anyway you here for Gym battle?
Rize: That's right! And this will be my 7th Kanto badge!
Satoshi: I'm sure your team have become much stronger now! Cinabar gym is a fire type gym so becareful not to get burn. Hey I know why don't we have a 1 on 1 battle!
Rize: That's a good idea! I'll treat it as a training for the gym battle then!
Since the Cinabar Gym is a fire gym Rize decided to get his Krabby transferred from Bill and send Pidgeotto over for a momment and now Rize is going to have his first battle ever with Satoshi!

Chapter 38 - Free Articuno!

Rize and Swimmer Kevin was looking for the Legendary Pokemon when suddenly a Rocket Spy showed up and ruined everything making Articuno to believe that Rize and Swimmer Kevin was the villain and responsible for the island's mess. Just when Rize have stopped Articuno's movements for a while by paralysing it, the Rocket Spy came back and captured Articuno and kept it in an electric cage. Rize is now trying his best to free Articuno.
Swimmer Kevin: Is it too much even for a Legendary Pokemon?
Rize: There must be something we can do! "Sandshrew is a Ground type! Electricity will not affect it at all!" Sandshrew go! Use Slash to break the cage and free Articuno!
Rocket Spy: Do you think I will let you?! Omastar Hydro Pump!
Omastar fired a powerful Hydro Pump and Sandshrew was knocked out before it can try to break the cage.
Rize: No! "Now what?! Gotta take care of him and Omastar first!" Articuno I will definitely get you out of the cage! Just hold on!
Articuno was shocked that Rize is trying to help it free itself. It become guilty of attacking Rize earlier and could sense Rize's sincere feeling in it.
Swimmer Kevin: We gotta take care of the Rocket and Omastar first! I'll help too! Tentacool go!

Rize: Bulbasaur! Poliwrath! Charmeleon! Give it up! You're outnumbered!
Rocket Spy: Oh really?! Kabutops go help Omastar!

" Kabutops the Shellfish Pokemon. It is a Rock and Water type. It is thought that this Pokemon came onto land because its prey adapted to life on land. "

Swimmer Kevin: He got another rare ancient Pokemon! Tentacool Poison Sting!
Rize: Bulbasaur Razor Leaf!
Omastar blocked the Poison Sting with Spike Cannon and Kabutops dodged Bulbasaur's  Razor Leaf and attacked it with X-Scissor and knocked Bulbasaur out in a single hit. Omastar then used Spike Cannon on Tentacool, Poliwrath and Jolteon and Tentacool was knocked out. The rest of Rize's Pokemon that still remain are not in a good shape.
Swimmer: Tentacool! Rize I'm sorry!
Rocket Spy: Hahaha! Numbers don't decide the battle I guess.
Rize: Jolteon use Shock Wave on both of them!
Jolteon used Shock Wave but Omastar and Kabutops managed to avoid it.
Rize: "Jolteon's electric attack will do the thing if it can land a hit! Wait! Jolteon's an electric type! If I'm not mistaken Jolteon's special ability is..." Jolteon come back here! Poliwrath and Charmeleon go take them heads on! Hey Rocket let's do a fair double battle!
Rocket Spy: Are you sure about that? In that case Omastar Kabutops go!
Poliwrath and Charmeleon takes Omastar and Kabutops head on and they're having quite an intense battle.
Rize: "Please hold on Poliwrath! Charmeleon!"
Rocket Spy: I got enough playing games with you! I have to go back to the Headquarter. Omastar and Kabutops use Ancient Power and finish them!
Omastar and Kabutops used Ancient Power and blow away Poliwrath and Charmeleon knocking them unconcious.
Rocket Spy: Hahaha! You're a goner now! Now your last Pokemon! Eh? Wait! Where's your Jolteon?!
Unknown from the Rocket Spy, Jolteon have been secretly went to the electric cage and used its special ability and absorbed all of the electric power from the electric cage until there's no more power left in it and Articuno is free to break out of the cage and it flew high to the sky breaking out from the cage.
Rocket Spy: What?!
Rize: That's right! Jolteon's special ability is Volt Absorb! Now use all that power on them! Shock Wave!
Jolteon with so much electricity charged from the electric cage unleashed the most powerful and biggest electric attack and thus it did not use Shock Wave as commanded but it learned to use a new electric move which is Thunder! Articuno too attack with its most powerful attack in its arsenal which is Blizzard. Omastar and Kabutops was knocked out instantly but the Rocket Spy have escaped flying on another prehistoric Pokemon, Aerodactyl, abandoning Omastar and Kabutops.

" Aerodactyl the Fossil Pokemon. It is a Rock and Flying type. A Pokemon that roamed the skies in the dinosaur era. Its teeth are like saw blades. "

Swimmer Kevin: We did it! We freed Articuno! But too bad the bad guy escaped!
Rize: That's no big deal! As long as Articuno is free from their evil hand!
Articuno landed and stand near them and made friend with Rize.
Swimmer Kevin: It looks like it understand that we're not the bad guy here haha.. But still.. I wonder where do that guy got all those ancient prehistoric Pokemon from..
Rize: Could it be that he's the culprit for stealing the Pokemon Fossils back in Pewter Museum??
Swimmer Kevin: That's possible!
Rize: Anyway Articuno is back to full health, it must have used Roost from the time it was inside the cage to heal its injuries.
Swimmer Kevin decided to stay in the island and take care of Omastar and Kabutops injury. As an apology and a way to thank Rize, Articuno lended him a help to have a flight on its back to Rize next destination town which is the nearby Cinabar Island. Cinabar Island is where the next gym is located.

Chapter 37 - Taste the Supreme Power of the Legendary Pokemon!

The Ice and Flying type Legendary Pokemon Articuno is elegantly flying and diving on the sky attacking Rize and Swimmer Kevin with its mighty cold Ice Beam attack mercilessly. Rize have decided not to hold back any longer and fight the Legendary Pokemon.
Rize: Kevin! Go to somewhere safe! I'll catch this Articuno!
Swimmer Kevin: Are you sure that's possible?!
Rize: We'll never know till we try!
Swimmer: Good luck! (Kevin went to somewhere safe and watch from a distance)
Rize: Kay! It's air battle! Pidgeotto go!

Articuno fired its Ice Beam attack to Pidgeotto.
Rize: Dodge! Then use Air Cutter!
Pidgeotto managed to dodge Articuno's Ice Beam then countered with Air Cutter but Articuno dodged it and countered with another Ice Beam and this time Pidgeotto got hit and frozen in an instant and knocked out.
Rize: Pidgeotto! You did your best.. It looks like we have to use more than 1 Pokemon and attack in a full force! "Bulbasaur and Sandshrew can't do anything much against Articuno! That means only  these 3 that are capable of fighting against Articuno!"
Rize sent out Charmeleon, Jolteon and Poliwrath to battle altogether against Articuno.
Rize: Poliwrath Water Pulse! Jolteon Shock Wave! Charmeleon Flamehtrower!
Articuno got hit by Flamethrower which made it slow down and took the Water Pulse attack followed by Shock Wave which create a combination of water conducts electricity and made the Electric attack more powerful. However despite taking all those attacks, Articuno is still able to fly as if nothing affecting it and this time it used Hail and summoned a huge hailstorm. Rize and his Pokemon was blasted by it.
Rize: The level of a Legendary Pokemon is sure something else!
Rize commanded his Pokemon to attack like earlier again but this time Articuno was very hard to aim as it hid itself among the hailstorm. Its special ability is Snow Cloak which raised its evasion in a hailstorm. All of Rize's attack couldn't land a single clean shot.
Rize: "There must be some way to beat it! Think!" Allright for now let's paralyse its wing so that it can't fly anymore! Charmeleon Flamehtrower! Poliwrath Water Pulse!
Articuno dodged the two attacks not knowing that it was just a trap.
Rize: Allright Jolteon now Thunder Wave!
Jolteon striked Articuno with Thunder Wave and successfully paralysed it and it fell down to the ground. Rize took the opportunity and threw his Pokeball to catch Articuno but suddenly, a Spike Canon attack pierced Rize Pokeball and attacked the paralysed Articuno. A large cage was then placed on Articuno and kept it inside.
Rize: What the?!!
Rocket Spy: Hahahaha! Thanks for doing the job! Now I came to catch this Articuno and hand it to the Boss! Do you really think that I will let a Legendary Pokemon get away from my sight like that?!
Rize: Why you! Let go of Articuno right now!
Articuno tried to break free from the cage but the momment it get contact with the ceilings of the cage it got electrocuted with a high voltage electricity and Articuno was seriously injured.
Rocket Spy: Hahaha! You can't go anywhere now Articuno!
Just when Rize was about to try catching Articuno, the Rocket Spy interrupted and now captured Articuno in an electric cage. Will Rize be able to free Articuno from Team Rocket?!

Chapter 36 - The Legendary Articuno in Seafoam Island!

Rize is now on boat travelling the sea together with Swimmer Kevin to Seafoam Island, an Island that is said to be a place where a Legendary Pokemon resided. Along the way, Swimmer Kevin is brushing his Pokemon's hair gently. As the Pokemon is new to Rize, as usual he checked it with his Pokedex.

" Psyduck the Duck Pokemon. It is a Water type. If its usual headache worsens, it starts exhibiting odd powers. It can't remember doing so, however. "

Rize: So it's called a Psyduck huh? It's a pretty cute Pokemon!
Swimmer Kevin: Yeah Psyduck is my favourite! How can you don't know about a Psyduck that you have to check it with that weird device of yours?
Rize: Well I'm from the Hoenn region and we don't have Psyduck there. There are lots of Pokemon I never knew and see before in Kanto so I'm so excited what kind of Legendary Pokemon I'll meet!
Swimmer Kevin: I see... Well here we are! We have finally arrived at Seafoam Island!

Rize: This place is cold! Hm what Pokemon is that?

Swimmer Kevin: It's Seel. The fact that Seel are living here that means this place have lots of Ice and Water Pokemon!

" Seel the Sea Lion Pokemon. It is a Water type. Seel is a Pokemon that lives on icebergs. It swims in the sea using the point on its head to break up ice. "

Rize: That means the Legendary Pokemon could probably be a Water type or an Ice type! Let's check around the island!
Suddenly an unknown voice emerged.
???: You're not going anywhere Rize!
Rize and Swimmer Kevin was surprised by the voice and the man showed himself
???: Suprised? I'm sure you're wondering who I am. I've been following and keeping an eye on you for quite awhile. And finally I can confirm to the boss that you are Rize from Hoenn that messed our organization's plan in Johto! Who would have know that following you would bring me to the Legendary Pokemon's hideout!
Rize: Organization?! Plan in Johto?! Are you with Team Rocket?!
Rocket Spy: Indeed! I'm one of the top Rocket Spy! So you've finally come to Kanto, you need to be taken care off if not you're going to mess with our Grand Plan!
Rize: Oh yeah?! What're you going to do?! What's Team Rocket Grand Plan anyway?!
Rocket Spy: That's a top secret.. now altough the Boss didn't order me to finish you off I'm going to take the initiative myself. Huhuhu..
The Rocket Spy sent out his Pokemon.

Rize:What Pokemon's that?!

" Omastar the Spiral Pokemon. It is a Rock and Water type. It is thought that this Pokemon became extinct because its spiral shell grew too large. "

Swimmer Kevin: Impossible! That's Omastar the pre-historic Pokemon! It is very rare and known to have been extinct!
Rocket Spy: Omastar! Spike Cannon to the the surrounding and destroy everything in sight!
Rize: What the hell is he doing?!
The Omastar used Spike Cannon and fire it to the surrounding of the caves and the island making terrible chaos to the island.
Rocket Spy: Hahaha Fool! The Legendary Pokemon that lives here is Articuno and it acts as a guardian to this island! You're screwed! Hahaha!(The Rocket Spy left the island)
Rize: He ran away?! I thought he wanted to finish me?!
Swimmer Kevin: I think I got what he means! Look! It's the Legendary Pokemon Articuno and it seems extremely angry! It must have thought that we are the one who have been causing these great mess!

" Articuno the Freeze Pokemon. It is an Ice and Flying type. A legendary bird Pokemon. It can create blizzards by freezing moisture in the air. "

The Articuno began to attack Rize and Swimmer Kevin by charging from the air. Rize and Swimmer Kevin managed to avoid the attack then it begin firing its Ice Beam attack on them.
Swimmer Kevin: Watch out! It's Articuno's Ice Beam! Once hit you're guaranteed to be froze to death!
Rize and Swimmer Kevin avoided the Ice Beam attack but Articuno kept on firing.
Rize: Articuno it's not us! The culprit have escaped! Really!
Articuno ignored Rize's words and kept attacking.
