Chapter 96 - Back to Hoenn!

"Rhydon's unable to battle! Pikachu wins! And therefore the victor of the Kanto League Intermediate Tournament goes to Trainer Satoshi!!"

"Congratulations to Trainer Satoshi for all his hard works and efforts that he finally made it to be this year's Champion! And don't forget all of his Pokemon's efforts too especially that super strong Pikachu!"

As soon as Satoshi was declared the winner and champion, small pieces of papers that were usually used on celebration went raining down to the stadium and battlefield showering Satoshi with it. The whole stadium were clapping their hands gaving their round of applause with loud cheers of joys.

"We did it Pikachu! We're finally the champion!" Satoshi fetched Pikachu with an open arms and Pikachu jumped onto his hugs.

From the spectators seat, Rize, Ryussei and Reinz were clapping their hands to give their respect to the new champion. "He really did it. That Pikachu of his is in the league of its own. It defeated more than half of the opponent's team and even defeated a Rhydon!" Reinz commented with amazement. "How did he train his Pikachu? Where do their source of power come from?"

And so that evening, the closing ceremony began and all participating Trainers were given a certificate of participation as appreciation. Satoshi received a big trophy while the 1st runner up got a smaller trophy of finalist. Rize and the other guy who was eliminated at the semi-final got an even smaller trophy than the 1st runner up as a semi-finalist. It was Lance of the Elite 4 that congratulated the Trainers and distributed the trophies.

"Wow, I never thought I could meet and shake hand with Lance of the Elite 4!" said Rize out of excitement of meeting the leader of Kanto's Elite 4. He then saw a buffed man that was very tall like about 190cm with a logn hair. The buffed man looks familiar to Rize and so he approached him.

"Mr.Bruny! It's been a while, do you still remember me? I didn't know you're now the Elite 4 of Kanto instead of the Johto region."

The buffed man just stood still with a confused face and did not respond to Rize. A lady's voice from behind the buffed man's body emerged. "You must have mistaken our Bruno for his twin brother Bruny, Rize."

"Hey, Ms.Lorelei! You're here too!" It turned out that the lady's voice was Lorelei of the Elite 4. All of the Kanto's Elite 4 were there on there ceremony and except for Agatha that was annoyed with Rize and so they both didn't meet or say a hi to each other.

"Now let's all close the ceremony with our big feast of buffet. It's all you can eat! Let's enjoy the food together!"

They all celebrated the feast and eat as much as they like together. Some of the participants preferred to went straight home but some people with no sense of shame like Darren and his gang stayed to eat as they do not want to lose free meals.

Prof.Oak also came to the party and ate together with his appointed Trainers, Satoshi, Ryussei, Reinz, Rize and ofcourse his grandson Shigeru. He also brought Midori along.

"The most unexpected things of all in this tournament is of course, Rize defeating Shigeru right at the very first round of the tournament. But still in the end he still lost to Satoshi, haha.." Midori loudly expressed his opinion without thinking of Rize's and Shigeru's feeling at all.

"Noisy woman.." Shigeru grumbled to himself.
"So what are you going to do next, Rize? Are you going to stay in Kanto and participate in the Kanto League again next year?"

Rize chewed the food on his mouth and swallow it, then he replied the Prof's question. "Err.. for now I would just return back to Hoenn, then I'll rethink about what to do next."

"Huhu, we all have made our decisions and fortunately our destination are the same. We're all going to Johto." Reinz told the Prof and everyone who was there who did not know. "We're inspired by you Rize! We also want to travel out from our region and meet and learn more new Pokemon we have never seen before!"

"All of you, you mean the four of you?"
"Yup!" All answered at the same time except for Ryussei who just kept quiet about it.
"That sure bring back memories.. Johto is a wonderful place!"
"What?! You've been to Johto before?!" Reinz was surprised hearing it and so do the others as well. Prof.Oak then took the line. "Rize was the runner up of the Johto Junior League Tournament last year. I've told you that when you first meet him, Reinz."

"Oh ya.. I forgot.. haha."

Out of the blue, Micha stepped in and joined the conversations with them saying, "For me, compare to Hoenn, Johto is not a so much of a great place as there are no Dragon type Pokemon that lives there except Kingdra."

They all went silent as were confused of the coming of this stranger except for Rize who knew him as he was his opponent on the 4th round. In fact, he actually lost to him. "Hey Micha! Come join us!"

"Hoenn have quite a variation of different Dragon types so I was thinking of going to Hoenn together with you Rize."
"That's great! I'll be leaving tomorrow morning with the S.S Anne."
"That's so fast! Give me your address in Hoenn then in case I could not go with you tomorrow."

Rize gave him his address in Hoenn and exchanged Pokegear numbers with Micha. Prof.Oak and the rest decided to accompany Rize going back to Hoenn to the vermilion harbour port where Rize will be departing from Kanto to Hoenn. Rize spent his last night in Kanto at Ryussei's house and the long night have passed as morning have arrived, Rize was prepared to get back to his home region.

Just when he have arrived at Vermilion city, his Pokegear rang. It was from Micha and he picked the phone up. "Hello Rize! Sorry it looks like there is no more ticket for today's sail but I'll be arriving to Hoenn the next day."

"Okay then no problem!"

The phone call ended. The clock indicated 8 passed 10 and the passengers are told to board the ship already.

"So this is goodbye then!" Rize saying his last phrases before he leave his friends. "It's been a very long journey and lots of things have happened. Thanks to all of you!"
"We're glad to know you too Rize!" Prof.Oak replied. "Be sure to keep contact!" said Midori.
"The next time we meet again I'm going to defeat you. Heheh." Shigeru gave his hand and both of them shook hand.

"Maybe we'll go to Hoenn too in the future." Satoshi too said his goodbye phrase and gave Rize a hand shake.
"Send my regards to Prof.Birch!"
"Alright go already now or else you'll miss your sail!" said Reinz and the cool and calm Ryussei did not say anything but a single "Bye." to Rize. So Rize departed from them and boarded the S.S Anne ship. The ship produced a lots of smokes from its pipe chambers indicating that it was ready to set sail and there it go, the ship have sailed its way.

"Have a safe trip!!" They all shouted together well except for Ryussei and Shigeru ofcourse.

Chapter 95 - An Ubermensch Pikachu

"Charizard use Dragon Breath!"
"We'll use Dragon Pulse!"

Rize's Charizard spitted a Dragon Breath attack from its mouth but it was countered by a Dragon Pulse attack from Satoshi's Charizard. A shock wave of Dragon type that's much stronger than Dragon Breath and so the Dragon Breath was completely overwhelmed and pushed back and Rize's Charizard was hit by the Dragon Pulse.

"Get up Charizard! Fly and use Aerial Ace!"

Rize's Charizard got up and this time charged with Aerial Ace but it was shot with another Dragon Pulse attack and it fell down hard to the ground.

Before Rize's Charizard could got back on its feet, Satoshi have commanded another attack and this time with an Overheat attack.

"Charizard get up! Get up and show him how powerful you are with your Blast Burn attack!"

Charizard got up and immediately charged fire energy to use its Blast Burn attack but before it could finish charging enough power, the flame of Overheat have already very near to it and it was forced to unleashed the Blast Burn attack before it was fully charged. As a result, the colliding attacks created a huge explosion and since it was near to Rize's Charizard, it got impacted with the shock wave of the explosion and it was not a damage to be underestimated. It became very weak and moreover, due to the side-effect of Blast Burn, Charizard could not move for temporary and it have to recharge some energy before it could move again.

"That Blast Burn attack was powerful but too bad, Seismic Toss!"

Satoshi's Charizard flew and carried Rize's Charizard with him while it was immobilize by the side effect of Blast Burn and carried it was carried very high up to the sky. At the sky high, Satoshi's Charizard spin a few rounds on the sky then dived back down in an incredible speed. It did not threw Rize's Charizard from the top of the sky but instead it carried it down with it until they are quite near to the ground then it tossed it to the earth ground to prevent Rize's Charizard from evading the attack by flying. The fall was implicit as the ground was terribly destroyed.

"Rize's Charizard is unable to battle. Satoshi's Charizard wins!"
"It looks like Satoshi's Charizard proved to be the stronger one. Could this be the start of a turning point of the battle?"

Rize was shaken from the lost and he could not believe that one of his strongest Pokemon was defeated that easily and it was not by type advantage but by a fair and square battle between Charizard. It proves that Satoshi was  the better Trainer. Frustrated from the defeat, he immediately sent out his Gyarados and planned to take revenge and settle his score as quick as possible.
 

"Gyarados, use Hydro Pump!"

Water type attack sure is effective against a Fire type but only if it could made a clean hit. Charizard flew and evaded the Hydro Pump attack. Rize kept commanding Gyarados to shower Charizard with its Hydro Pump attack but Charizard kept avoiding it on the air. No matter how swift and agile Charizard could fly, it could not help but getting shot by one of the so many Hydro Pump attacks that were launched at him and it fell to the ground.

"Chance! Finish it with Hyper Beam, Gyarados!"

Flashing scarlet beam was shot from Gyarados' big always opened mouth but Charizard have snapped out from its fall and it flew back up and avoided the Hyper Beam thus the scarlet beam attack just destroyed the ground in vain.

"Crap! It recovered so fast!"
"Charizard return!" Satoshi returned his fire breathing lizard like dragon back into its Pokeball. "Pikachu, go finish it with your Thunder Bolt!"

Satoshi switched with his cute little yellow electric mouse and as Gyarados was immobilized, it was struck and electrocuted by a deadly Thunder Bolt.

"Gyarados is unable to battle. Pikachu wins!"

The crowd began to be loud in their cheers and root for Satoshi. "It's even now! How long will Trainer Rize allow this to him?"

"We'll see whose Electric type is better and stronger. Jolteon, your turn!"

"This time it's a clash between two Electric Pokemon!"

"Jolteon use Shadow Ball!"
"Pikachu dodge it!"

Jolteon shot a Shadow Ball attack but Pikachu was extremely fast that it was even faster then Jolteon's speed and it dodge the attack completely. Rize was shock to see how fast Satoshi's Pikachu was because he have never battle any opponent faster than his Jolteon.

"We gotta stop its movement. Use Thunder Wave!"
"Pikachu, Quick Attack!"

Pikachu used Quick Attack and it ran even faster than before and avoided the paralyzing Thunder Wave and tackled Jolteon with its Quick Attack. Jolteon was pushed back by the impact of Pikachu's Quick Attack.

"Fire anothe Thunder Wave quick before it could get away!"

However, Jolteon seems to be unable to move and its body was cloaked in statics of electricity.

"It looks like it was your Jolteon who got paralyzed."
"What! But how?!"
"My Pikachu's Static ability made a Pokemon that made physical contact with it got a chance to be paralyzed. Pikachu finish it with Iron Tail!"

Pikachu jumped in mid air and its lightning shaped tail began to hardened and shine like it was a metal and it slammed its heavy and hard metal tail onto Jolteon's head.

"Jolteon was unable to battle. Pikachu wins."

Rize could not believe that his Jolteon would be knocked out that easily as Steel type moves are less effective against Jolteon. "Impossible! That little Pikachu's so strong!" Having returned his fainted Jolteon back into its ball, he then sent out his Sandslash as he was confident that his Sandslash would be able to defeat Pikachu with no sweat.

"Trainer Satoshi finally took the lead! But can his little Pikachu go against a Ground type like Sandslash?"

Satoshi spoke in confidence, "You need more than type advantage to beat me and my Pikachu! Pikachu use Quick Attack!"

Pikachu started the battle with a devastating Quick Attack that pushed Sandslash far back even tough Sandslash have protected itself from the attack with its claws but still the force of Pikachu's attack was too strong.

"Grr! Metal Claw!"

Sandslash used its sharp claws that were hardened and sharpen to be like a sharp metal blade and went slashing Pikachu but Pikachu was too quick and it dodged all of Sandslash's strikes.

"Pikachu fight back with Iron Tail!"

The little electric mouse fight back Sandslash's Metal Claws with its ironic tail and they began their combat fight between two Steel type moves. However, Sandslash was struggling and it was the one on the disadvantage and was forced to be on the defensive mode while Pikachu was the one who kept striking with its Iron Tail. Pikachu then jumped on mid air and strike Sandslash on the head with its Iron Tail. Sandslash was heavily injured and fell its feet down,

"Sandslash lost in terms of strength?! In that case, use Dig!"

Sandslash dug a hole and went underground to make a sneak attack from below. The Dig attack was successful, super effective.

"Now use Sand Tomb!"

As soon as Pikachu landed and got its feet back on the ground, it was attacked by a whirl of sands and trapped in the vortex. Again another super effective.

"Alright, now that it's trap in there, it will be just a matter of time until it's knocked out by the sands!"

But Satoshi could not just stand there witnessing his most precious Pokemon to be trapped in the vortex of sands. "Pikachu, use Thunder Bolt to blow away the sands!"

From inside the sands, terrific jolts of electricity raging like a storm and blasted away the sands completely and Pikachu was free from the Sand Tomb attack.

"Impossible!"
"Pikachu use the speed of Quick Attack and strike with Iron Tail!"

Dashing with boosted speed from Quick Attack, the Iron Tail attack was greatly increased in power as well and Sandslash was pushed far away back until it crashed the wall.

"Sandslash is unable to battle. Pikachu wins!"
"Incredible! It even defeated a Ground type! Can Trainer Rize still turn things to his side now?"

Rize was greatly shocked and impressed at the same time with Satoshi's combination move. "What a great combination of moves! I never thought and know of such move!"

"Hey this is bad, Rize have only two Pokemon left while Satoshi still have four and two of them have not even show up yet!" Reinz was worried of Rize but he could do nothing to change the situation but gave his supporting cheers.

"Alright then, Swampert! I'm counting on you!"

"Swampert's a Water type but it's also part Ground type."
"You're right! So once again your Pikachu can't use its Electric power. Swampert, Hydro Pump!"

Swampert used Hydro Pump but it was easily dodged by Pikachu. However it was already accounted by Rize's prediction and it was part of the plan."I knew it would dodge, Swampert use Hammer Arm!"

"Pikachu use Iron Tail to fight it back!"

Pikachu could not dodge anymore and it then fight back Swampert's Hammer Arm attack with its Iron Tail but this time it lost in terms of power and type and it was deflected away by Swampert's attack. Satoshi, knowing that it would be tough and dangerous for his Pikachu to go on switched it with his Venusaur.

"What?! I never knew Satoshi have a Venusaur!"
"You're done for. Leaf Storm!"
"Leaf what?!"

Not knowing what kind of attack Leaf Storm was, Swampert was hit by a super effective storm of leafs. Swampert was heavily damaged by the strong Grass type attack and was in great pinch. Its Torrent ability started to active again but its health was at the end of the line and it need to finish Venusaur before it receive any other attack.

"Swampert, let's use the same strategy as we were battling against Ryussei. Use Dig!"

Recalling the battle with Ryussei's Venusaur, Swampert then burrowed underground and went for a sneak attack from below. After successfully attacked with Dig, it followed with an Ice Punch. When Venusaur wanted to attack, it went back and hid underground and continue the procedure of attacks until Venusaur was in great pinch but then it was also something that benefited Satoshi. Venusaur was full of energy as its Overgrow ability was activated and its Grass type attack power was greatly powered up.

Swampert managed to knock it down with its Dig attack but before it could hit it again with Ice Punch, Venusaur unleashed its devastating Leaf Storm attack and this time due to Overgrow, its sheer power was much more powerful then before and Swampert was hit by it. This time, not even Rize's Swampert could endure such an attack and damage.

"Swampert's unable to battle. Venusaur wins!"
"Even Swampert have been defeated now! Is there still any hope left for Trainer Rize?!"

Rize was so shock that his Swampert have been defeated. It was like a slap on his face and his confident on winning have been destroyed. Even then he refused to give up and fight till the end with his last Pokemon, Pidgeot.

"Pidgeot use Air Cutter!"

Pidgeot flapped its wings and sharp blades of air was formed that hit Venusaur but it was not enough to defeat Venusaur and Rize followed up to finish it with Aerial Ace.

"Venusaur use Vine Whip and bind it with your vines!"

Venusaur tried to intercept Pidgeot's assault but because it was heavily injured and so much weakened, Pidgeot managed to evade all of Venusaur's vines and successfully strike Venusaur on the head.

"Venusaur's unable to battle! Pidgeot wins!"
"Yes! There's still hope. We can do this! Let's do it Pidgeot!"
"Your perseverance really impressed me. Pikachu, it's all yours!"

Pikachu once again return to the field and the whole stadium went loud with their cheers. It looks like Pikachu have earned the spectator's favor and they all became Pikachu's fans. Rize did not care at all and attack mercilessly with Air Cutter, Pikachu took the hit but it endured the attacks.

"Thunder Bolt!"

Pidgeot was almost zapped by Pikachu's Thunder Bolt but it dodged well, after flinching Pikachu with its Air Cutter attack it then attacked with Aerial Ace as told to finish Pikachu off.

"Pikachu grab Pidgeot's foot!"

Pikachu successully evaded Pidgeot's attack and it even managed to greab Pidgeot's foot and cling unto it. It then used Thunder Bolt and zapped Pidgeot and they both fell to the ground.

"Now let's wrap things up with Volt Tackle!"

While Pidgeot was still laying on the ground, Pikachu dashed with its maximum speed cloaked with a mass of Electric energy and tackled Pidgeot and thus knocking out Pidgeot. Rize finally was eliminated on the 6th round of the Kanto League Intermediate level.

"I lost?? No way.."

Chapter 94 - Round 6! vs Satoshi!

The very next day after Rize have defeated his own friend Ryussei and proceeded to the 6th round, he then faced with his other friend, Satoshi. It's an even more challenging opponent for him as Satoshi was known to be one of the strongest participant in the League and with all his reputations as well. Satoshi have been winning all his previous matches with flying colours with using as few Pokemon as possible.


"Now here comes the 6th round of our Kanto Intermediate League Tournament! This is going to be a very exciting match folks! Stay tune!"

The referee then indicated his line then commanded the two Trainers to sent out their first Pokemon. It was Sandslash from Rize and Snorlax from Satoshi.

"Tch! I thought he'd use his Pikachu. I didn't know Satoshi have a Snorlax." Rize then start to observe the huge fat sleeping Pokemon and he speculated that this Snorlax was more powerful and trained better then Ryussei's Snorlax. It was much bigger and its attitude in battle is different. It also have a different expression on its eyes and face."Sandslash let's win this!"
"We can't let our guard down Snorlax. He is a Trainer who defeated Shigeru after all." Satoshi warned Snorlax and took cautious heed against Rize. It looks like Rize have earned some respect from Satoshi ever since Rize defeated his rival, Shigeru.
"Let's go, Rize! Give me all you got!"
"You don't have to tell me that, Sandslash use Swords Dance!"

Having raised its own physical attack with Swords Dance, Sandslash was ready to battle with all it have.

"I see you wanted to go all out. We too then! Snorlax, Belly Drum!"

Snorlax start beating its own belly like a drum hard and it inflicted quite a damage on itself but its physical power was increased into its highest potential. There need to be a sacrifice to acquire something after all.

"Sandslash use Sand Tomb!"

Sands started to spin and whirling around Snorlax. Snorlax was engulfed by a tornado consisted of sands and it was trapped and the sands kept hurting it all the way during the battle until it subsided. Snorlax struggled so much in the vortex of sands, it can't open its eyes and mouth as well as sands could come into them. Its eyes and mouths were full of sands. Snorlax pretty much like to eat anything but not sands.

"Now use Metal Claw!"

With a swift dash, Sandslash put everything it have on its Metal Claw attack and strike on Snorlax's belly. Snorlax was pushed back and fell down hard onto the ground.

"Snorlax is unable to battle. Sandslash wins!"
"Incredible! The battle have just started but Trainer Rize have scored 1 point by defeating Trainer Satoshi's big and strong Snorlax!"

Satoshi was silent of its loss for a moment then recalled his fainted Snorlax into its Pokeball. He then smiled and laugh. A laugh full of excitement. "It's rare to battle a strong Trainer. This is really going to be fun! You're better than I thought Rize!" He then turn his hat backwards. It is a habit of his to turn his hat backwards whenever he became serious in battle. "Pidgeot, I choose you!"

"Sandslash would be troubled battling an opponent that could fly. Sandslash return for now." Rize recalled back his Sandslash and took out an Ultra Ball that was readied to be thrown. "An aerial battle between two Pidgeot will be interesting. Pidgeot go get that Pidgeot!" The Ultra Ball was thrown and it was opened on the air A different coloured Pidgeot came out with shiny glitters that made the whole spectator in the stadium amazed.

"Wow! Look at that Pidgeot all Pokemon fans! Its golden in colour! That's the coolest Pidgeot I ever seen! Just where did Trainer Rize got that majestic looking Pidgeot?? Trainer Rize sure have lot of surprises for us!"
"So that's the result of being lab experimented by Team Rocket but will it be a match for my Pidgeot?"

Rize confidently answered with a direct attack of Air Cutter. Blades of air were flying directing towards Satoshi's Pidgeot. Satoshi calmly reacted to the attack. "Pidgeot use Air Slash!"

Satoshi's Pidgeot flapped its huge wings and created a force that slashed through the air sharper than Air Cutter. It was as if a sharp blade of air flew like a thrown javelin and it cut through Rize's Pidgeot's Air Cutter. Rize's Pidgeot got hit by the Air Slash attack and the damage was quite remarkable.

"What move's that?! It's much stronger than Air Cutter. We definitely gotta learn that move! Pidgeot you okay?"

Pidgeot got back up to show Rize that it's okay and able to continue the battle. "Alright then, Aerial Ace!" Pidgeot immediately confounded Satoshi's Pidgeot with incredible speed then slashed it. Its speed was so fast that Satoshi's Pidgeot do not have the time to react and dodge.

"What speed!" Satoshi was so surprised of Rize's Pidgeot's speed and he almost could not believe it.
"Yeah and it was thanks to Team Rocket's experiment result as well that raised its speed."
"Pidgeot, Sky Attack!"

Satoshi's Pidgeot flew up high to the sky higher then Rize's Pidgeot position and dived down and strike it with incredible speed and power. It was engulfed and cloaked with wind pressure.

"If we can't dodge it we have to attack back! Taste this, its a move that we prepared and mastered just for this Kanto League. Pidgeot use Hyper Beam!"

Flashing scarlet beam was shot from Rize's Pidgeot's mouth and Satoshi's Pidgeot which was charging towards it could not dodge it but instead took the hit heads on and it was knocked down to the ground by the Hyper Beam.

"Satoshi's Pidgeot is unable to battle. Rize's Pidgeot wins!"
"Incredible! Not only it is a different colour Pidgeot but it is also on a league of its own! Now Trainer Rize have scored 2 points while Trainer Satoshi was still 0."

"Yes!" Rize got even more confident of beating Satoshi and proceed to the final round. Satoshi returned his fainted bird Pokemon into its ball.

"You did your best, now take a good rest pal." Satoshi's Pikachu was concerned of his performance. "Pika pi.."

"Don't worry Pikachu, we're going to be just fine." He then reached to his belt and took a Pokeball and threw it to the battle ground. "Charizard. I choose you!"

Seeing that Satoshi have sent out a Charizard, Rize recalled back his Pidgeot into its ball. "Then I choose Charizard as well!"

"Ooh! Once again it's a battle between two same kind Pokemon. This is going to be an intense hot battle!"
"It looks like we have quite a common interest in choosing and catching Pokemon huh?" Satoshi commented on Rize.
"Was that a compliment or what? Haha.. Let's continue with our battle!"
"Yeah! Charizard use Flamethrower!"
"We'll use Flamethrower too!"

So both fire breathing lizard but dragon like Pokemon breathed their Flamethrower attack that clashed and made an intense burning heat to the surrounding of the stadium until the spectators could feel the heat from their seats.

Chapter 93 - Conclusion!

"So it's a clash between starter Pokemon from the Kanto and Hoenn region! However, basing from types alone, Venusaur would have the upper hand and on the other hand Swampert was terribly weak against a Grass type!"

Rize and Swampert together have been trembling and shaking. Somehow, Venusaur's presence just emitted a strong intimidating aura.

"We gotta be very careful Swampert! Ryussei's Venusaur could use the strongest Grass type attack Frenzy Plant! One hit of that and it would be the end for us!"
"Maybe you've chosen the wrong Pokemon, Rize? If only you bring your Charizard it would be me who will be on the sharp disadvantage."
"Heh, you'll regret underestimating my Swampert! It's my number one Pokemon! Types does not matter to us! Swampert use Mud Bomb!"

Balls of Mud went flying to Venusaur's face that made its face covered in mud. It made Venusaur distracted and have to clean the mud on its face and eye in order for it to open its eyes to see and that gives some time for Swampert to get closer and attack.

"Chance! Swampert, Ice Punch!"
"Venusaur use Vine Whip and grab it tight!"

Venusaur got back on its track faster than Rize expected and it released full course of its vines that went into all direction. Swampert have no way to evade all of the vines as it is always been not a swift runner.

"Swampert use Dig and hide underground it's too dangerous!"

Swampert dag a hole and hid underground. Venusaur withdrew back all of its vines and could not do anything unless Swampert came out from the ground to the surface.

"Focus Venusaur! Concentrate on where and when it will emerge. Once it came out, grab it immediately with your vines!"
"Saur!" Venusaur responded, indicating that it is clear with the command and was ready.

Swampert came out from the ground and hit Venusaur with Dig attack from below the ground. Venusaur was surprised and did not expect to be attacked from below and while Venusaur was still in the after effect of taking a hit, Swapert hit it again and this time with a super effective Ice Punch. Venusaur was pushed back by the punch a few squares back and it's starting to get weaker and weaker from the damage it received.

"Venusaur focus! Use Vine Whip and strangle Swampert quick!"

As soon the command was ordered Venusaur quickly reacted to it and released its vines to grab and bind Swampert's movement. But Venusaur isn't the one who reacted to the command Ryussei made as Rize did react quicker and told Swampert to once again hid underground using Dig.

"Swampert have once again hid itself underground avoiding Venusaur's dangerous vines! If this keep goes on Swampert might just defeat Venusaur! What will Trainer Ryussei do?"

Rize was confident as well,judging from the current situation. "Venusaur have taken so much damage while my Swampert's still in full health. We might just win this if we keep this pace. But we still have to be careful tough, one hit and it's all done for us!"

"I could sense it. The moving Swampert that trembles the ground, I can sense its movements. I'm sure Venusaur can feel it too, but Venusaur's movement was too slow to dodge such a fast and surprising attack. In that case.."

The ground's shaking harder but it can only be felt by people who were very sensitive to the surrounding and environment. Ryussei could feel that Swampert's charging very fast towards Venusaur's spot and it was very near already. "Venusaur use Frenzy Plant to the ground now and drag Swampert out!"

"What?!"

Venusaur summoned all of its strength and released a lot of huge, bulky and sharp thorny vines that pierce through the ground and dragged Swampert out from the ground. Swampert was hit by the most powerful Grass type attack and it is twice as effective! Swampert was pierced by the thorny vines and was thrown and fell laying on the ground, terribly injured.

"Swampert have been hit by Venusaur's strange move. Even I did not know what move is that but it seems to be extremely strong and very effective. Could this be it for Swampert?!"

"Swampert get up! Don't give up!" Rize gave his support for his pierced and wounded Swampert who's struggling with all it have left to get back up.

"It's useless. It won't be able to continue the battle after it have been hit by my Venusaur's Frenzy Plant." Ryussei said it confidently and calmly as he proclaim his victory.

In a sudden, Swampert's whole body began to glow in aquatic coloured and the light shielded and covered its body like an aura. It became full of strength and it roared loudly. Its power have been multiplied many folds!

"What?! Could it be?!"
"What's happening to Rize's Swampert now?! Stay alert on this battle dear spectators!"
"Alright! It's Swampert's Torrent ability!"

Swampert got back up on its four legs and its eyes were glowing in blueish light as well filled with much water power and energy. Ryussei  and Venusaur both was overwhelmed by Swampert's power that have risen because of Torrent and he wanted to finish Swampert before it could do anything harmful for them but Venusaur have to recharge some energy until it can move again due to the side-effect of Frenzy Plant. Rize knew about it and took this chance to attack. "Ice Punch!"

Venusaur again was hit by a super effective attack and it is already so much weakened and exhausted. It was pushed back by the punch even further then before and it was panting and coughing after taking the clean hit on its forehead.

"Impossible! After getting by hit by such massive damage from our Frenzy Plant, how could it still survive?! Venusaur, strangle and bind it with Vine Whip then use suck its energy with Giga Drain!"

Swampert's arms and feets were strangled and reeled hard by Venusaur's vine and Venusaur was ready to drain its energy. Rize immediately shouted and told Swampert to use Hydro Pump with its maximum power. A Hydro Pump like never before performed by Swampert went and pushed Venusaur all the way back into the wall and crashed it with the wall. The Hydro Pump attack was so terrific and strong and it could slice a hard rock with it thanks to the powered up from Torrent.

"Venusaur is unable to battle. Swampert wins!"
"Wow! He defeated Venusaur! So that's Rize's real strength!" Reinz who were watching the battle was in awe at the awesome power and combination of Rize and Swampert.
"Ha! That Swampert's good alright, but it is not a Fighting type so it's not so good." Added Master Chuck.
"At last, Trainer Rize have took the lead and now Trainer Ryussei have only one Pokemon left which is his Golduck. Can he still turn things round?"

Ryussei desperately sent out his last Pokemon Golduck as he have lost all his spirit and hope to win the battle and so Rize defeated him easily with his Jolteon and Rize was declared the winner of the 5th round and proceeded to the 6th round. They both shook hands for the great battle and the whole stadium gave them a loud cheers and applause.

Chapter 92 - Battling a Friend part 2

"Glalie use Ice Beam!"

Rize intended on freezing Snorlax's whole body into a huge ice cube but Snorlax's Thick Skin ability made it able to endure the cold and not easy to be frozen up. Glalie's Ice Beam was just hitting its body like a beam and it did not freeze it.

"Snorlax, Belly Drum!"

Snorlax strengthen its physical power by beating his own belly like a drum, hurting itself.

"Headbutt!"

Snorlax ran and charged with its head towards Glalie. Rize felt challenged and he fights power with power head on. "Hey We can use Headbutt too you know. Glalie, Headbutt!"

Glalie charged with its head to fight Snorlax with power head and their heads clashed but Glalie was overpowered by Snorlax and was sent flying back like a shooting Javelin and crashed to the wall.

"Glalie is knocked out. Snorlax wins!"
"What the! In 1 hit?!"
"Such incredible power! Snorlax's combat power is now at its peak that it have used Belly Drum before. Can Trainer Rize defeat such powerful Pokemon in both strength and defense together?"

Rize looked at the big battle board that showed the progress of the battle and he have lost three Pokemon and therefore have only three Pokemon left to use while Ryussei still have five Pokemon remaining. It was quite a gap between them but it did not made Rize to give up.

"Jolteon, I'm counting on your speed!"


"Snorlax finish it with 1 shot! Body Slam!"

Snorlax, using its huge body to slam Jolteon but its movement was way too slow for Jolteon and Jolteon avoided the attack with ease. Jolteon even kept running around to confuse it that and all its attack were dodged.

"We will attack from distance. Jolteon, Thunder Bolt!" Jolteon then shot an electric attack equivalent to 10.000 volts from its charged up body and Snorlax was electrocuted. The cycle goes on as Snorlax kept missing its target and Jolteon kept attacking it with Thunder Bolt. The more Snorlax got electrocuted the more its movements got slower as well as the attack some sort paralysed its body.

"You're going down this time, Ryussei! Another Thunder Bolt!"

Again another Thunder Bolt attack was launched and Snorlax could not help but to take the attack with all it have as it does not have the speed to dodge such speed of an electric current.

"Hmm.. This is weird. It have cut down its own health by half by using Belly Drum earlier and it have been receiving so much damage from Jolteon's Thunder Bolt, but yet it's still able to continue the fight! How could it be so strong!"

Indeed, in reality Snorlax have not much health left to stay in the battle however, "Snorlax use Rest now!" Snorlax yawned and lay his own body on the ground sleeping peacefully and it restored its health back and all its injuries from all the damages it received disappeared.

"Tch, even tough it completely healed itself it is now unable to do a thing as it is sound asleep. While it is still asleep we would have knocked it out from the match. Jolteon keep using Thunder Bolt!"

Jolteon kept shocking the peacefully sleeping Snorlax with its Thunder Bolt attack and little by little inflicting damage on it. Snorlax was still soundly sleeping but Jolteon already started to be out of energy and breath. Its Thunder Bolt attack is not that powerful anymore. Jolteon stopped its attack as it rested for a while taking its time panting while Snorlax finally woke up from its sleep looking mad as its peaceful sleep was disturbed.

"Snorlax use Rest again."

Snorlax used Rest and went back to sleep again recovering its health points.

"I get it now. He's trying to use Snorlax's endurance to defeat my Jolteon by making Jolteon out of energy and then unable to battle! How dirty!"

Rize then remembered something, a move that is super effective against a sleeping Pokemon and even more to a Normal type like Snorlax. It is double the effect. "Jolteon return and take a rest for now." Rize recalled back Jolteon into its ball. "Poliwrath, I'm sure you can beat that thing!"


Rize's Poliwrath came out from its Pokeball and hardening and enlarging its built up muscles to all the people around to show its readiness to fight with all its might. Master Chuck who was watching the battle got excited to see Rize sending out a Fighting type. "Wow! I didn't know Rize got a Poliwrath! I'm gonna ask him to let me train his Poliwrath after this match!"

"Are you so obsessed with all Fighting types? What a freak." said Reinz who were sitting beside Master Chuck watching the battle.

"Poliwrath, use Wake Up Slap!"
"Oh crap!"

Poliwrath ran towards Snorlax's sleeping face and slapped it twice with a super-effective and powerful slap that not only woke Snorlax up but it even immediately sent Snorlax back to sleep as it became unconscious. It left a palm marked on both Snorlax's cheeks.

"Way to go! That Poliwrath is quite good! I really want to train it myself!" Master Chuck became even more fired up.

"Snorlax is unable to battle. Poliwrath wins!"

Without dragging the time around, Ryussei immediately sent forth his next Pokemon. "It's Water against Water. Golduck!"


"And here we have Trainer Ryussei's 4th Pokemon is a Golduck. It looks like he intended to fight fairly Water with Water. Who is the stronger Water type between these two Pokemon?!"

"Interesting!" Felt challenged, Rize accepted the offer to fight heads on. "Poliwrath Ice Punch!"
"Golduck, Ice Beam!"

Poliwrath strengthen its fist and collected Ice power on its fist and charged towards Golduck. Golduck however, fired freezing beams of ice from its palms that distracted Poliwrath's charged but Poliwrath avoided them nicely. Having avoided all of Golduck's Ice Beam, Poliwrath then challenged Golduck to a combat battle. Poliwrath unleashed its deadly freezing punches unto Golduck. However, Golduck's fighting instincts and combat abilities are not to be underestimated and it avoided all of Poliwrath's Ice Punches well.

"Sorry Rize! You've misunderstood me if you think that I want to fight you fairly between Water types. Golduck use Psybeam!"

The mark on Golduck's forehead began to glow and shine brightly in violet colour as it launched its super effective Psybeam attack that immediately pushed and sent Poliwrath flew backwards far from it.

"Poliwrath is unable to battle! Golduck wins!"
"What the?!"
"Wow! It looks like Golduck is stronger thanks to its ability of using Psychic type moves which is a real threat for Poliwrath!"

Master Chuck was furious to see one of his favorite Fighting type lost in one attack and it made him even more motivated to train that Poliwrath himself.

The battle board crossed Poliwrath's picture and it shows that Rize have only have two more Pokemon to use. One is Jolteon which he have sent out earlier and one other that he have not reveal yet while Ryussei still have four Pokemon and two of them he have not even reveal yet. Things are looking pretty bad for Rize.

"Jolteon, make that Golduck a duck soup!"

Jolteon made a second appearance but it looks like it is still quite tired from the battle with Snorlax earlier as it was panting after it came out from its Pokeball.

"I won't let you. Golduck return." Ryussei did not let things to go Rize's way and substituted Golduck with another Pokemon. "Golem go!"

"Now, what will Trainer Rize do as Golem is part Ground type and no Electric type attack will effect Golem!"
"The commentator's right! It looks like Rize have to switch Pokemon again or else. Wait but if he switch Pokemon again.." Reinz became aware and began to realize of the danger if Rize switch and did not defeat Golem without switching Pokemon and he was sure that Rize was extremely aware of his situation and knew better of the danger as well.

"Darn! If I switch Pokemon now, he will know my last Pokemon. My last is Swampert and I'm pretty much sure that Ryussei pretty much have predicted it as well. Once I sent out Swampert, he will definitely switch to Venusaur. I knew his battle style. His battle style is to finish off his opponent as soon as possible if he could with type advantage and the percentage of me winning will be very slim! Even if Swampert did somehow manage to defeat Venusaur it will not be in a good shape and will lose the next round with his other Pokemon. Then Jolteon still have to defeat his Golem which is another mission impossible task as well." All these were thought by Rize in his mind. "If Jolteon could not defeat Golem by its own then I'm finish. If Jolteon could defeat Golem then the chance of winning would be higher! It's swim or drown!" Rize inhaled a deep breath and exhaled it with a shouting a command of attack. "Alright Jolteon! Shadow Ball!"

A purple colour of energy ball was fired from Jolteon's mouth that created an explosion right after it made impact with Golem's body. Golem took quite a damage despite its high defense power but its special defense is low. Ryussei then told Golem to attack with Rock Slide. Rocks began to fell down from the sky as if it were a rain of rocks. Jolteon with its agile speed, managed to dodge every single rock from damaging it.

"Another Shadow Ball!"

And so another Shadow Ball made contact with Golem and this time it did the job and the referee called for Golem's knocked out and Jolteon's victory, making Ryussei with three Pokemon left.

"Wow! An Electric type defeated a Ground type! Trainer Rize really raised his Pokemon well!"
"Phew.. It's not impossible afterall. Thanks to your great speed Jolteon!"

Ryussei looked pissed by his Golem's performance as it did not went as he have planned and expected. He sent forth his next Pokemon and fortunately revealing the identity of his last Pokemon as well which is a Lickitung.

"Your Shadow Ball is useless now! Lickitung Lick attack!"
"Shadow Ball might be neutralized but we can use our Electric moves now! Jolteon dodge and use Thunder Bolt!"

Lickitung stretched its long sticking out tongue even longer that it reached from its spot to Jolteon's spot without moving its body forward at all. Felt disgusted with Lickitung's long slimy and wet looking tongue, Jolteon ran as fast as it could to dodge it and immediately shock it with its Thunder Bolt attack.

"Yeah! A clean hit. That should do."

However, Lickitung was still standing as if nothing happened to it. It did not even feel the shock and it continue its assault on Lick attack giving Jolteon a hard time evading all the attacks..

"What?! It did not affect him? But it's just a Normal type!"
"My Lickitung's special defense is high. Now Lickitung use Disable!"

In a sudden, Jolteon's Thunder Bolt attack was disabled by Lickitung and it could not fire anymore of its Thunder Bolt attack. Now that with Thunder Bolt disabled and Shadow Ball useless, Jolteon's choice of attacks were reduced to Thunder Wave and Quick-Attack.

"In that case! Jolteon use Quick-Attack!"

Jolteon dashed with its incredible speed like a bullet and strike right on Lickitung's belly but its attack was not effective and moreover it was deflected back by Lickitung's fat and bouncy body and Lickitung was completely fine with its act innocent look that annoyed Rize even more.

"Not only its special defense is high but its physical defense as well! Lickitung, use your tongue to wrap it and use Slam!"

Jolteon's stamina began to wore off as it have been running dodging every single attacks from previous battles and using a lot of its electric energy and so it slowed its speed and it was caught by Lickitung's tongue. Lickitung wrap it and tossed it around the ground with Slam attack. Jolteon looks so much in pain as it received a lot of damage from all the tossing and slamming and Rize thought of returning it back into its ball because he wanted to reserve it for eliminating Golduck later on.

"Jolteon return for now, eh? Wait a minute.." Rize have straighten his arm and directed his Pokeball towards Jolteon to recall it but just then, he got an idea of defeating Lickitung. "Jolteon hang on and use Thunder Wave!"

Jolteon was still wrapped in Lickitung's tounge and with all its remaining strength it got left, Jolteon struggled hard to collect energy and charged a Thunder Wave attack that paralysed Lickitung's whole body including its tongue. Due to its paralysis, it could not wrap Jolteon anymore with its tongue and Jolteon was free from the bind.

"Crap!"
"Alright Jolteon return now!" After returning Joleton back into its Pokeball, Rize immediately threw another Pokeball which is the last Pokemon of his arsenal, Swampert.

"What! His last Pokemon is Swampert!" Ryussei seems to be surprised and did not expect that Rize's last Pokemon is a Swampert and it distracted and slowed him down. Rize took this chance to strike a deciding attack for Lickitung.

"Swampert use Hammer Arm quick while it is unable to move from its paralysis!"

The paralysed Lickitung could not do a thing to avoid or prevent Swampert's destructive and super effective Hammer Arm attack and its Trainer itself was still stunned by its false assumption and so Lickitung was hammered down by Swampert's strong and hard arms.

"Lickitung's unable to battle. Swampert wins!"

"Wow! The score is now a tie between these two Trainers as they have the same number of remaining Pokemon! It is still anybody's battle, who would have expected that Trainer Rize would rise back and settle hsi score equally with Trainer Ryussei!"

However, Reinz have a different perspective as Ryussei still have his Venusaur and perhaps it would be the worst opponent ever for Swampert and his judgement was right, Ryussei did sent Venusaur up against Rize's Swampert. Rize and Swampert both knew it better then anyone else and they are really cautious and on guard against Venusaur.

"If only I knew that his last Pokemon was a Swampert instead of Charizard, I would have used Venusaur against Jolteon back then and my guarantee of victory would be higher!"

Chapter 91 - Battling a Friend

It was night around seven and the cafeteria of the Kanto League Intermediate level were crowded with Trainers as it was dinner time. Those who have been eliminated and those who are still ongoing with the challenge are both eating together there. The foods all are supplied and participating Trainers can take as much as they want. The gang of three were sitting down together as they eat their dinner. Reinz have ate three plates of meals and it is now his 4th plate while Ryussei have finished eating as he ate very fast. If he were to join an eating competition of who can eat the fastest he would pretty much win.

Reinz saw that Rize have just been staring at his food in front of him and have not been eating at all. "Hey what's wrong with you? Don't wanna eat? Can I have them then?"

"He probably still could not take it about his victory for today's match." Said Ryussei.

"Hey come on, a win is a win. Haha" While saying that he chopped one of the meat in Rize's plate and ate it for himself.

Rize answered in a low spirit tone. "Yeah, I guess so. But still.."

Across their tables, another gang of three were eating and have been watching and eavesdropping Rize and co's conversations. They were the three losers of Darren, Kagayakashi and Tamagoroshi.

"Look at that loser. He won his match today by luck! He should have been eliminated!" Darren talked quite loudly that the table across them could heard him. He was so envy of Rize and the others and talked bad and cursed them.

Rize may not have heard it as he was still thinking of his defeat but his friends heard what Darren said and stared at the three of them with sharp eyes. Reinz then confronted them again just by words and said to them, "Hey loser gang, you wanna fight?! Get lost!"

Darren and his gang coward back and ran off from the cafeteria even tough they have not finished their meals yet. While they ran, they bumped onto other Trainers that have just got his meals and was walking back to his place to eat. They bumped on him and the food he was holding fell off to Darren and he screamed loudly in pain and dashed off in a rush as the food was hot and he probably ran to find water to cool off and clean himself. "Hey wait for us, Darren." The other two ran following their leader. The people at the cafeteria was all watching at them as they were too loud and attracted too much attention. Some annoyed, some laughed, some confused and some just did not care and ignored.

Reinz laughed out loud at them and created a nickname for their gang. "Hahaha! What pathetic jokers, that served him right. Hey I know, from now on let's call them Trio Jokers. How does that sound?"

Rize laughed and thanks to those three jokers that he was enlightened and was back to his usual self. "Yeah that's a good one! Alright then, I've decided to move on. I'm going to be very careful from now onwards."

"That's the spirit that any Trainer who are participating on this tournament should have."

Master Chuck just entered the cafeteria and sat with them. This area was suppose to be off limit to people who are not participants of the League but it was a different case for Master Chuck because he's a Gym Leader and a Gym Leader are also a part of the League organization's staffs.

"Rize do you plan to use Hitmonchan again at the remaining upcoming rounds?"
"Huh? I don't think so as I plan to use my best from now and it's their turn now."
"That's good, I plan to leave tomorrow after your match. I can't wait to train him again and this time, it's going to be much much tougher. I can't stand that he lost while being a Pokemon trained under me. Where can I put my face if people knew about this?!"
"Ahaha now calm down.. okay then. Thanks for taking care of Hitmonchan all these times."
"Hey you the one who have long messy spiked hair, you got a Machamp right? I can see that it have much potential when it was about to strike its Cross Chop attack. Wanna lend it to me? I will train it to be hundred times stronger!"

Reinz declined the offer as he wanted to train his Pokemon by himself especially his Machamp. It is one of his favourite Pokemon. Meanwhile the opponent pairing for next round have been announced and revealed at the stadium as usual so they all went to take a look of who is going to be Rize and Ryussei's opponent at the 5th round. The result of the pairings are surprising for them as Rize and Ryussei have to go face each other. Finally they met.

"Whoa, this is going to be a must watch match! I don't know which side should I be on, I want Rize to avenge my revenge but on the other hand I don't want Ryussei to lose to because if he who have defeated me lost then that means I lost as well, right?"
"Rize, remember your promise?"
"Ofcourse! Let's do our best tomorrow!"

The long dark cold night have passed as the sun rises and its light gave warm to the face of the earth and all its inhabitants. Wild Pokemon that were wandering around at night such as Gastly and Haunters started to go to sleep and Pokemon like Pidgeys and Pidgeottos started chirping welcoming the morning and flew around gathering food for their groups. The remaining 16 Trainers are preparing for their matches and the first match of the 5th round is Rize and Ryussei's match. This time the battle will be a six on six full battle instead of three on three.

People from around the region and even the world have gathered and sat at the spectator's seats to watch the battle. Rize and Ryussei both have entered the stadium and the battle sign board have been turned on showing their respective faces and six slots of squares for each of them indicating their Pokemon. Reinz and Master Chuck sat together to watch the battle.

"Alright Trainers. On the count of three. 3,2,1! Go!"

"Aron let's go!"
"Ninetales!"

Both their first slot were filled with Aron's and Ninetales' face. Ryussei have seen Aron's battle and have been studying it via his Pokedex.

"Steel and Rock type. Ninetales is at disadvantage here but.. Ninetales use Flamethrower."
"Even tough Fire are not so effective thanks to Aron's Rock type we still have to be careful. Aron block the fire by piling up rocks using Rock Slide!"

Ninetales then breathed scorching fire from its mouth but the flames were blocked by the rocks from Aron's Rock Slide and thus it can't reach Aron.

"Pretty smart. Ninetales charge and use Confuse Ray on a close distance."

Ninetales ran and jumped passing through the pile of rocks to use Confuse Ray on Aron but when it have arrived and landed on Aron's previous spot, Aron was no where to be found but instead there is a hole.

"It used Dig underground! Careful Ninetales!"
"Bingo! Aron attack now!"

Aron came out from the ground and hit Ninetales with a super effective Dig attack but Ninetales quickly snapped out from its injury and used Disable on Aron as was ordered by Ryussei. "Now Aron can't use Dig and hide underground anymore. Flamethrower!"

"Tch. Rock Slide!"

Aron was hit by the scorching flame but Ninetales was stoned by the Rock Slide attack and both received quite a damange but Ninetales received the greater damage.

"Alright then, another Rock Slide!"
"Ninetales quick use Confuse Ray!"

Aron was about to release its Rock Slide attack again but Ninetales' crimson ray of light was faster and struck on Aron's eyes. The moment Aron was affected by it, it became restless and gone wild and crazy with no self-control at all. It went berserk and kept hurting itself and could not hear anything of Rize's words.

"Aron, snap out!"
"You're done now. Flamethrower!"

While Aron kept on bashing its own head and body to the ground hurting itself, Ninetales burn it alive with its Flamethrower attack.

"Aron is unable to battle and Ninetales is the winner."

Aron's face on the battle board was immediately eliminated by a red cross and its picture became black and white with the light turned off. Rize praised Ryussei for his first victory but warned his second Pokemon will be tougher and sent out Swellow.

"Wow! Today we gotta see more of rare Pokemon from Trainer Rize. Makes me wondering what are his other team members for today and this is a full battle! We have to wait patiently, dear Pokemon fans!"

Swellow is a Pokemon that can only be found in the Hoenn region and therefore people from Kanto like Ryussei have no idea about it except for those who have traveled or learned from books and webs. Ryussei scanned Swellow and gathered as much information it can using his white Pokedex.

"Just an ordinary Normal and Flying type Pokemon. Nothing to be worried about. Ninetales, roast it with Flamethrower!"

Ninetales blew another scorching fire from its mouth but Swellow was too swift and agile. It's even faster than it was before and avoided all of Ninetales' Flamethrower attack by gliding through the air.

"Keep firing before it can strike you."

Ninetales shot its Flamethrower more intense and much faster and even Swellow was having quite a hard time avoiding all the dangerous burning flame.

"Double Team!"

Swellow heard the command and made a hologram illusionary images of itself using Double Team and this made Ninetales and Ryussei even harder to aim their attacks as all their attacks were just hitting fake images.

"Aerial Ace!"

The real Swellow from up above the sky dive down and strike Ninetales with a high speed Aerial Ace attack and Ninetales was knocked out. However, after knocking out Ninetales, Swellow felt a little bit weird for a moment and Rize was not aware of it.

"He did not realized what happened to his Swellow. Alright then Venusaur, your turn!"


"What?! He sent out Venusaur already? Is't Venusaur suppose to be his number one? But Venusaur is weak against Flying type and moreover it is very slow. It can't match with Swellow no matter how strong it is. Does that means that he have no other Pokemon strong enough to handle Swellow's power and speed?"

Even tough Rize have the advantage over type, Rize was shaken and became curious and cautious of what Ryussei was going to do. He became delusive by his own worries. While he was still thinking and being too cautious, Ryussei have made the move earlier and Venusaur released a lot of its vines that is going to strike Swellow.

"I see, so that's his plan. He intended to deal with Swellow's speed and aerial advantage by making it immobilize by tying it up with all its vines. Swellow Double Team!"

Swellow created another set of fake hologram images of itself and therefore Venusaur's vines were just striking nothing on the air. Just illusion.

"Now Swellow use Aerial Ace!"

Swellow again using the same trick as before dived down from the sky above but this time, something is odd and it was not diving down as fast as it should be. It was just flying like normal.

"What?! What's wrong with your Aerial Ace?!"

Swellow itself did not know what happened to it but it just could not perform its Aerial Ace attack like. It felt it have no energy left to do it and it stopped in midair wondering what was going on.

"Gotcha! Vine Whip and wrap it up nicely!"
"Oh no!"

Swellow and Rize was caught off guard and Swellow was then caught by Venusaur's vines and tied up. It was binded extremely hard that it could not fly and get free. Ryussei followed it up with Giga Drain attack that drained all of Swellow's energy after a long draining of power.

"Swellow is unable to battle! Venusaur wins!"

Rize was shocked and did not expect his Swellow to be defeated and asked Ryussei what actually happened as he have a feeling that Ryussei was behind this.

"When you knocked out Ninetales, my Ninetales have been trained to whenever it received any attack, in case it was knocked out it must always use Grudge before receiving the damage. Therefore your Swellow have been cursed by our Grudge attack and lost all its energy to use Aerial Ace."

"Oh right! Grudge attack! I remember now. I used to have a Vulpix and I even use that strategy too. My bad, you got me careless but this time you're going down. Glalie go!"

"Another Pokemon from Hoenn and this time it's a Glalie an Ice type."

Ryussei again checked information about Glalie with its Pokedex. "So it's a pure Ice type just like the commentator said." However, while he was busy with his Pokedex, Rize strike and did not wait for Ryussei at all and Venusaur was shot by Glalie's super effective Ice Beam attack.

"Hey you have to focus on the battle not idolizing my Pokemon alright. Hehe."

Ryussei immediately returned back Venusaur into its ball. He does not want to take the risk to fight an Ice type and sent forth his Snorlax.

"His Snorlax's ability is Thick Skin and reduced Ice type attack to half. But so what about it? We're going to beat that big fatso down right Glalie!"
"Glay!" Glalie confidently responded and replied Rize and it is determined to defeat Snorlax.

Chapter 90 - Unexpected Result

Just when Rize and Hitmonchan was gaining the upper hand and about to finish Dratini off, the little dragon Pokemon evolved into a big strong Dragonair. Now he have to face an even stronger foe than before.

"How is Rize and Hitmonchan going to deal with Micha now as Dratini has evolved and become stronger! We'll just have to wait and see."

Micha became even more confident of his victory that his Dratini evolved. "Alright! At last you evolved. Dragonair show me the power from your evolution. Dragon Breath!"

Dragonair breathed its Dragon Breath attack again but this time the breath was so much more terrific and its destructive power was much greater than before. Both Rize and Hitmonchan did not expect the increase of their power to be so much that Hitmonchan could not dodge it and received the attack clearly and as the breath touched onto the ground it created a huge explosion that covered Hitmonchan.

"Never underestimate the power of Dragon Pokemon."

The ground was wrecked up because of the power of Dragonair's attack and Hitmonchan was found laying on the ground with his whole body facing the ground but it is still moving and struggling to get back up thus the referee did not made his call.

"Your Hitmonchan's pretty tough. But I'm going to end it now! Dragonair use Hyper Beam!"

Dragonair charged a crimson ruby coloured energy on its forehead ready to fire it as soon as the enough amount were gathered. Hitmonchan's condition was helpless as it was still struggling to get back on its feet. Rize desperately shout to give its last hope on Hitmonchan to get back up and avoid the attack but before Hitmonchan could stand back up, Dragonair have released its Hyper Beam attack and another explosion once exploded on the battlefield.

"Hitmonchan!!"
"Hahaha I won!"

Unexpectedly, Hitmonchan came out from the smokes and dusts effect of the explosion and punched Dragonair with all its remaining power left using Mach Punch. Dragonair was sent flying long backwards and fell.

"What?! Impossible!"
"Hitmonchan quick use Ice Punch!"

It looks like Hitmonchan managed to avoid clear shot of the Hyper Beam attack and now that Dragonair have to recharge its energy after using Hyper Beam, Hitmonchan attacked it again and this time hit it with a super effective Ice Punch. Dragonair's skin spot that was hit by Ice Punch was frozen as ice tips were covering its skin.

"Alright another Ice Punch and give it all you got in this one punch!"
"I won't let you! Dragon Breath!"

Just before Hitmonchan's Ice punch could reach and land its hit, Dragonair got back up and blew away Hitmonchan with its powerful Dragon Breath that pushed it all the way till it lay on the ground right in front of Rize.

"Hitmonchan no! Don't give up! Get up, Hitmonchan!" Rize tried to cheer Hitmonchan to get back up but there is a limit to strength and power from supporting cheers and Hitmonchan just could not endure it anymore and fell down again covering its face facing the ground.

"Is this it?! Is Hitmonchan really defeated?!"

"No way! Get up Hitmonchan! You're a disciple under me! You have to remember that!" Master Chuck tried to help Rize by giving its supporting cheers but it turned out to be of no use.

Rize saw that Hitmonchan could not get back up and he have been defeated and he admitted it while bowing down his head facing the ground and covered his face with his long fringe that were all wet from the sweats of anxieties of the battle. "Thanks Hitmonchan. You did your best."

Dragonair itself was extremely exhausted as well and it was panting all the time out of breath and Micha was very sure that if it got hit by another attack it would have fnished him. The referee heard Rize's words and judging from Hitmonchan's state and condition, the referee finally made his call.

"Hitmonchan is.."

"Wait!"

Micha suddenly interfered with the referee before the referee could finish stating and announcing his judgement officially.

"I forfeit on this match."

"What?!"

The whole crowd in the stadium and everybody who was watching the match was all shocked to heard such declaration from Micha especially Rize. The referee could not believe what he heard as well.

"What's this?! Just when his victory is for sure, Trainer Micha gave up! What in the world is in his mind??"

The whole stadium went crazy especially people who rooted for Micha and they were all became noisy and restless.

"Alright then. Trainer Micha have forfeited. Therefore the winner of this match goes to Trainer Rize."

The sign board removed Trainer Micha's picture and declared Rize as the winner of the match. Rize was all surprised that he was speechless seeing what was actually taking place.

"What the?! Why did you do that! I clearly have lost! Don't you want to win?!"

"It's certainly true that I've won this match but I don't feel like I've won against you. Why? Because here I am using the best Pokemon I have while you did not. Even so I was close of losing myself and that is why I'm sure if I were to face your best I would have certainly lost. I'm sure Dragonair felt and thought the same way as I do too and that is why I don't deserve to win this match. You go on to the next round and make sure you don't lose ridiculously like you just did. Pick and choose your Pokemon wisely. Things like this will most likely will never happen again."

Rize and the whole stadium was amazed and in awe from Micha's explanation and the whole crowd gave him a very big and long round of applause. Rize thanked him for letting him win but still his feeling was all mixed up as well as he don't feel like he've won as well and don't deserve this victory.

"All the best with your remaining matches! You better not lose."

After finished saying that, Micha left the stadium and Rize was still standing on his spot unmoved.

Chapter 89 - Dragon Trainer!

Having passed round three of the Kanto League Intermediate level, Rize was locking himself in his room focusing on how to win the remaining matches.

"Hmm.. I've watched and learned every remaining Trainer's battle style and the only major threats left are Satoshi and Ryussei. But perhaps the other 29 Trainers have not shown their real strength and ability yet. Anyway I hope I don't face any of those two tomorrow."

As he have hoped for, the pairing of the fourth round have been revealed and he did not have to face either Satoshi or Ryussei yet and neither those two face each other either. Rize would have to face a Trainer name Micha Instead.

"Hmm, Micha.. I watched his battles and he surely is good. His Scyther and Machoke are something to be cautious of but his Seadra is not so good."

From afar, Micha was looking closely and observing Rize carefully. Micha was a tall boy taller then Rize by about 3cm and with a built up trained body bulkier than other average boys of their age. He wore an unbuttoned shirt that allowed him to show his muscular chest with a long shiny silver necklace. The bottom is a black long jeans and his hair were long, messy yet tidy with nice shapes. Sort of like the Harajuku style. Then he took the initiative and approached Rize.

"Hey you must be Rize. I'm Micha your next opponent." He introduced himself and gave his hand for a proper handshake introduction.

Rize responded to him and they shook hand. "Yes I'm Rize. All the best for us tomorrow then."

"I've watched your battle against Shigeru and truly you're one to be watched. Every remaining Trainers here are aware of your presence and probably hoping not to face you and for somebody else to defeat you."

"Oh really??" Rize then thought in his mind. "Whoa, if he saw my battle against Shigeru and still bold enough to approach me now he must be pretty sure of himself."

"So that's it for now then, see you at the battlefield tomorrow."
"Okay!"

Night have arrived and Rize have came with the Pokemon he's going to use for tomorrow.

"Alright, I've decided on using Hitmonchan, Kingler and Butterfree since Micha always use the same three Pokemon for all his previous matches. I hope he does the same for tomorrow too.

The time of their battle have arrived however, expectation and estimation do upset sometimes as Rize thought that Micha would be using Machoke first that he sent out Hitmonchan for his first Pokemon but instead Micha sent out Scyther first.

"Scyther the Mantis Pokemon. It is a Bug and Flying type and the pre-evolved form of Scizor.It is nearly impossible to parry its attacking scythes. Its movements are like a ninja's."

"Gotta be careful of those scythes. Hitmonchan use Fire Punch!"

Hitmonchan's fists started to burn hot with flames engulfed and it dashed to attack Scyther with the super effective flaming punch.

"Hehe, Scyther fly up."

Scyther flapped its wings and flew up high to a degree that Hitmonchan could not reach and stayed there. Micha then instructed it to use Swords Dance to rise its physical attack power.

"This could be bad, Hitmonchan stay alert!" Rize warned Hitmonchan to always be on guard and ready anytime Scyther strike as he knew Scyther have incredible speed and swift attacks and together with the sharp scythes it made a dangerous combination.

"Scyther Slash attack!"

Scyther swiftly flew towards Hitmonchan with its sharp scythes scything Hitmonchan with Slash attack. Hitmonchan carefully dodged and avoided each and every of Scyther's Slash attack as it used to dodging punches and attacks in the training with Master Chuck with the other Fighting types but Scyther are much faster than any opponent it ever practice with and it could not find a chance to strikes back.

"Hitmonchan be careful!"
"This is troublesome. Aerial Ace!"

Scyther flew back up into the air and charged with great speed as it is cloaked with shining light as the air pressure goes through its body. Hitmonchan was hit with the super effective Aerial Ace and fell even tough it have guarded itself with its fists.

"Hitmonchan return!" It looks like what the Pokedex said was true about Scyther as it is nearly impossible to parry Scyther's attacking scythes. Rize recalled back his Hitmonchan back into its ball as he realized how dangerous for Hitmonchan to go on and sent out Kingler instead.


"Overwhelmed by Scyther, Rize was forced to retreat his Hitmonchan and sent forth Kingler. Can Kingler face Scyther?!"

Master Chuck who watched the battle from the spectator seat was so pissed to see Hitmonchan's performance. "How could he be so weak. I'll have to train him harder when we get back to Johto."

"Switching Pokemon won't do you any good. Scyther Slash attack."

Scyther charged and attacked with its sharp scythes to slash Kingler. Rize then immediately told Kingler to grip and lock Scyther's scythe with its large pincers.

"What?!"

Micha was surprised to see his Scyther's scythes were gripped and locked by Kingler's large pincers. Scyther could not free itself from Kingler's grip even tough it tried to flapped its wing so hard to fly up but Kingler gripped on it very hard.

"Alright Kingler toss it onto the ground!"

Kingler used all its strength to carry up Scyther and tossed it hard to the ground. Scyther was shaking in pain and could not move as it kept on laying on the ground.

"Alright Kingler use Swords Dance quick!"

Kingler quickly fling around its pincers as performing the Swords Dance move and risen up its physical attack power.

"Now use Crabhammer!"
"Scyther quick get up and dodge!"

Kingler swung its large and heavy pincer onto the helpless Scyther that was laying on the ground in front of it and a huge smokes veiled the ground as the pincer impacted.

"Is that the end of Scyther?!"

Unbelievably, Scyther have got back up and dodged Kingler's attack just in time. It is now on the air up high above where non of Kingler's attack could ever reach it.

"What speed! To dodge in such a close distance and short time."

"Haha, that's my Scyther! Aerial Ace!"

Scyther flew in high speed with its scythes crossed and charged towaards Kingler. Rize thought that if Hitmonchan could not dodge Scyther's Aerial Ace so there is no way his slow moving Kingler could.

"Fight it head on! Metal Claw!"

Scyther scythes through Kingler and so do Kingler attacked with its large and heavy pincer with Metal Claw attack. Scyther scythes through Kingler and showed its back onto Kingler and so do Kingler show its back on Scyther but it was Scyther that fell down and knocked out of the match.

"Scyther's unable to battle. Kingler wins!"

Micha returned his Scyther back and sent forth his next Pokemon, Machoke.

"Try my super strong Machoke!"

"Like Trainer like Pokemon, you both have big and strong muscles alright. Kingler return." Rize called back his Kingler and sent forth his Hitmonchan for a second performance. "Let's make this an epic fighting combat between two Fighting Pokemon and see who's the better fighter!"

"You have a good sport spirits. Perhaps I could invite you to my community! The Macho Community where human and Pokemon train and work out together haha."

"Haha, no thanks. Hitmonchan go use Mach Punch!"

Hitmonchan dashed and unleashed its powerful and swift Mach Punch on Machoke's face and Machoke could not endure the pain of the hit and knocked out.

"Machoke is unable to battle. Hitmonchan wins!"

"Impossible! With just one hit?! But how! My Machoke is a part of the Macho Community group!"

"Sorry but my Hitmonchan was training under Master Chuck the Gym Leader and a Master in martial arts of a Fighting type Gym in the Johto region."

"No way.. no wonder your Hitmonchan was so fast and strong. I guess it's time for me to use my number one Pokemon then."

"I still have three Pokemon but you have only one left. But nevertheless, bring it on, Micha!"

"Hehehe, three Pokemon is not a matter with this guy. Dratini come forward!"

A small little innocent and cute looking dragon Pokemon like snake body with blue and white skin appeared. It is an unknown Pokemon to Rize so he took his Pokedex out for information.

"Dratini the Dragon Pokemon. It is a Dragon type. It is called the "Mirage Pokemon" because so few have seen it. Its shed skin has been found."

"Wow I wish found one myself. It's such a unique and rare Pokemon! Anyway Hitmonchan return for now. Butterfree, your turn."

"Phew, I thought you would send that Pokemon you use when you defeat Shigeru's Dragonite. I was trembled just now but my victory is secure now."

"Don't underestimate my Butterfree. Butterfree use Signal Beam!"

Butterfree shot a colourful beam of light towards the Dragon Pokemon Dratini.

"Dragon Breath!"

Dratini fired and breathed a fire like breath of mystical Dragon power and pushed back Butterfree's Signal Beam and Butterfree was hit by it. What is hard to believe is that Butterfree fell and instantly knocked out with just one single attack from Dratini.

"Butterfree is unable to battle, Dratini wins!"

"Wow what a powerful little Dratini! Trainer Micha might still have the chance to make a come back and turn the battle around!"

"Hahaha! I'm actually a Trainer specializing in Dragon type. I believe that Dragon type are the strongest Pokemon as they contain mysterious mystical power in them. They are like the god of Pokemon!"

Rize called back his fainted Butterfree. "That Dratini may be strong but it won't be strong enough to beat my Kingler!" Rize sent forth Kingler again to face Dratini this time.

"Kingler use Swords Dance!"

Kingler once again raised up its physical power with Swords Dance but Micha was not worried about it at all.

"Thunder Wave!"

Dratini charged electric power in its body and zapped Kingler with a shock of electric attack that paralyzed its body that it cannot move.

"Oh no!"
"Before you could land any hit to us, you'll be finished! Thunder Bolt!"

Dratini once again zapped Kingler with electric attack but this time it is a super effective Thunder Bolt attack that inflicted real damage and not just merely paralyzing Kingler's body. Kingler held itself well and endured the damage.

"It's pretty tough, Dragon Breath!"

Dratini shot Kingler with its Dragon Breath attack and this time, Kingler was not spared and out of the match as the referee made his call. The sign board crossed Kingler's picture with red cross and leaves Rize with just Hitmonchan.

"It's unbelievable how easy it defeated Butterfree and Kingler. Rize's lead was gone in an instant. Can Rize and Hitmonchan defeat Micha and Dratini?!"

"I pity you Rize. You made the wrong decision on using your Pokemon. If only you did not underestimate me and use your best Pokemon I would have lost to you. But now you're only left with a mere Hitmonchan."

Somehow Master Chuck heard Micha's statement and was really pissed as he felt that Fighting types are being downgraded and yelled at Rize. "Hey Rize! Hitmonchan! You better win this or I'm going to punish you both!"

Hearing Master Chuck scolding them, Rize and Hitmonchan was convicted to win this match no matter what. "Alright Hitmonchan, let's do our best. We can't lose here and now. Now go use Mach Punch!"

Hitmonchan dashed and threw his most powerful Mach Punch on Dratini's face and Dratini was sent flying back and it received some damage.

"It's fast! Dratini use Thunder Wave to stop its movement!"

Dratini zapped electrical energy current and emitted it from its head but Hitmonchan dodged it very carefully as it could be very dangerous if it got zapped.

"Nice dodge! Ice Punch now!"

Hitmonchan strengthened its fists and its fists became cloaked in Ice energy as it concentrated and punched Dratini super effective.

"That's the way! Finish him off!" Master Chuck was so into the battle and kept on yelling and shouting for Rize's victory.

Dratini was so injured that it lay down on the ground in pain and could not fight back. Rize called for another Ice Punch attack to finish it off.

"Is this the end for Dratini?!"

"Dratini get up!!" Micha shouted and gave its support to his Pokemon not to give up.

Hitmonchan was approaching and just a few steps more for its punch to land on Dratini, Dratini's body began to glow in a very bright light. Hitmonchan stopped its attack wondering what have happened to Dratini.

"What's happening?!"

"What in the world is happening to Micha's Dratini! Could it be??"

Dratini's body began to extend and grow bigger and changed shaped. It turned out to be evolving and it evolved. Its body became much bigger and its face more mature with pair of wing shaped ears on its head.

"Oh no it evolved!"
Rize was shaking and trembled upon seeing the new Dragon Pokemon he have to face.
